Dimitrios Katsikas was recently elected Lecturer of International and European Political Economy at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the University of Athens. He studied Business Administration at the Athens University of Economics and Business, and then went on to study for two Master degrees (M.Sc.) in finance and international political economy, at the London School of Economics. Following his postgraduate studies he worked as Management Associate at the Corporate Banking Department of Citigroup’s Global Corporate and Investment Group (GCIG) in Greece. Subsequently he returned to the London School of Economics where he received his Ph.D. studying transnational regulatory authority in global economic governance. He has taught graduate and postgraduate courses at the London School of Economics, and at the University of Athens as guest lecturer. He is currently participating in a research project that examines research and technology policy in the context of exit strategies from the current economic crisis, funded by the Hellenic General Secretariat of Research and Technology. His research interests focus on international and European political economy, international and European monetary, financial and economic governance, and the role of non-state actors in global economic governance. He has presented his work in various international conferences and seminars. His publications include Non-state Authority and Global Governance’, Review of International Studies (forthcoming), and Harmonizing Approval and Registration Procedures for New Drugs: The International Conference on Harmonization”, in Thomas Hale and David Held (eds), Handbook of Innovations in Transnational Governance, Polity Press (forthcoming).

Dimitris Katsikas is Assistant Professor of International and European Political Economy and Director of the Research Centre for Economic Policy, Governance and Development at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. He studied Business Administration at the Athens University of Economics and Business and continued his postgraduate studies in finance and international political economy at the London School of Economics (LSE). He received his PhD from LSE in the field of international political economy. He has taught as Visiting Professor at the Greek National School of Public Administration and the Diplomatic Academy of the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He has presented his work in international conferences and seminars and has published in international academic journals. His research focuses on international and European political economy, international and European monetary, financial and economic governance, and the role of non-state actors in global economic governance. In recent years, the Greek and European crises became his major research interests. He has participated as researcher and coordinator in a number of Greek and European research programmes related to the crisis. During the period 2013-2019 he was Head of the Crisis Observatory at the Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (ELIAMEP). From January 2020 to September 2021, he headed ELIAMEP’s new Greek and European Economy Observatory. From September 2020 to August 2021, he was ELIAMEP’s ‘Stavros Costopoulos’ Senior Research Fellow. From April-June 2022 he was Visiting Senior Fellow at the Hellenic Observatory, European Institute, LSE.
