Ana Krstinovska, Research Fellow at the South-East Europe Programme, writes in CHOICE about Chinese activities in the Western Balkans. CHOICE (China Observers in Central and Eastern Europe) is a multinational consortium of experts providing informed analysis on the rising influence of the People’s Republic of China in Central and Eastern Europe.

In particular, she analyses the EU’s vision to grant further single market advantages to the aspiring Western Balkan members before full membership, at the same time as the issue of how to manage trade with China becomes more important.

The article is based on the regional study “China’s influence on the Western Balkans’ EU accession process: synergies and obstacles“, co-authored by Ana Krstinovska, Bledar Feta, Aleksandra Stankovic, Senada Selo Sabic, Aleksandra Davitkovska-Spasovska and Momcilo Radulovic.
