Professor Panayotis Tsakonas, Head of ELIAMEP’s Security and Foreign Policy Programme, participated in the Schuman Security and Defence Forum held in Brussels on 28 & 29 May 2024. During the first day of the meeting, representatives of think tanks from 25 countries discussed the possibility for the European Union to develop an effective role in the face of global and regional security challenges.
Mr. Tsakonas participated in the session entitled “The Future of Multilateralism” and his intervention focused on the possibility for the EU to develop and promote multilateral cooperation schemes in the Mediterranean region.
The policy proposals of this session were included in the agenda of the plenary session and were discussed during the second day of the conference with the participation of the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell.
