Research Fellow, Greek and European Economy Observatory

Chrysa’s Papalexatou research focuses on European Political Economy, on issues of economic inequality, monetary integration, banking, housing, and public policy. In her PhD thesis she investigated the relationship between the Euro adoption, wealth and income inequality outcomes. In her postdoctoral research project at the Hellenic Observatory, LSE she examined the evolution of the bank-state ties in Greece during the Economic Adjustment Programmes. Before conducting her PhD studies at the LSE’s European Institute, she studied Economics (BSc) and Politics and Economics of South Eastern Europe (Master’s) at the University of Macedonia (Greece). She also worked for two years in the Greek banking sector at the National Bank of Greece. She has taught courses at the LSE and at the University of Macedonia on various topics including, International and European Political Economy, Monetary Integration, Inequality and Capitalism, and Public Policy.
