Ioannis Armakolas, head of ELIAMEP’s South East Europe Programme and scientific coordinator of ELIAMEP’s recent research on Greek Public Opinion and Attitudes towards Albania, Albanians and Greek-Albanian Relations, which was conducted in the framework of the project “ALGREE – Albania-Greece: Understanding. Connecting. Partnering”, was interviewed by journalist Erla Mehilli at Euronews Albania.

Dr. Armakolas spoke about the results of the research funded by the Konrad-Adenauer Foundation – Office for Greece and Cyprus and conducted by the Public Opinion and Market Research Unit of the University of Macedonia’s Research Institute and commented on the complex landscape in the relations between Greece and Albania.

Among other things, he stated that the social situation for Albanians in Greece has improved significantly. According to him, this is because Albanian immigrants have been living in Greece for a long time and have already been so well integrated that they are an integral part of life in Greece. Regarding the bilateral relations of the two countries, the picture is more complex, with the research reflecting the very negative attitude and concern of the Greek public opinion about the Beleri issue and the rights of the Greek minority in Albania.
