The South-East Europe Programme of ELIAMEP, in collaboration with the think tank Analytica based in Skopje, implemented a research project dedicated to the issue of cooperation between Greece and North Macedonia in the fields of education, culture, and civil society during the second half of 2019. This project marked the third consecutive collaboration funded by the Swedish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and focused on enhancing cooperation between the two countries.

The 2019 project was noteworthy as it was the first research endeavor jointly conducted by think tanks from both Greece and North Macedonia. Additionally, it was the first among the three projects conducted with Analytica to include policy recommendations.

The primary objective of the project was to systematically record and analyze the current framework of cooperation between Greece and North Macedonia in the fields of education, research, culture, and civil society.

The report resulting from the project was presented in both Skopje and Athens in December 2019. These events were attended by the Ambassadors of Sweden in the respective countries, as well as diplomats from other neighboring countries, academics, and journalists.

The project received funding from the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs.
